Have You Heard The Good News?

Christ died for our sins, and God raised Him from the dead.

Imagine a vast, starlit sky on a quiet night. Beneath this expansive canopy, there’s a story unfolding, one that resonates with the deepest chords of our existence. This story is not just a tale of ancient times; it’s the narrative of divine love, the story of God's love for us.

At the heart of this story is a simple carpenter from Nazareth, yet He is far more. He is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who stepped down from the glory of heaven into the confines of our world. His journey was not one of pomp and grandeur, but of humility and sacrifice. Born in a manger, living a life of service, He walked among us, sharing in our joys and sorrows, our struggles and pain.

The love of Christ is vividly displayed in the way He interacted with those around Him. He touched the untouchable, loved the unlovable, and forgave the unforgivable. He saw beyond society’s labels and reached out with compassion and grace. His miracles were not just displays of power but acts of profound love, meeting the needs of the people, both physically and spiritually.

The climax of this story of love is found on a rugged cross on a hill called Golgotha. Here, love was personified in its most sacrificial form. Jesus, sinless and blameless, bore the weight of our sins and the punishment we deserved. In the most profound act of love, He suffered and died in our place. His outstretched arms on the cross are a testament to the breadth of His love, encompassing all humanity.

But the story doesn’t end at the cross. On the third day, He rose from the dead, conquering sin and death, offering us hope and a future. Through His resurrection, He opened the way for us to experience a relationship with God, to know His love personally and intimately.

Christ's sacrifice for our sins is the ultimate testament to God's love for us. In an act of divine love, God sent His only Son to fulfill the death sentence that justice required for our transgressions (John 3:16). Jesus, in His crucifixion, stood in our stead, bearing the punishment that was rightfully ours. We were the transgressors, deserving death and eternal separation from God (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9).

The resurrection of Jesus is God's powerful statement, affirming Jesus as His Son (Romans 1:4) and confirming that His sacrifice met the righteous requirements to atone for our sins (Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:1-2). It is through this profound truth that God justifies us, offering salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

This salvation is offered to us as a free gift, by grace, through faith in Christ, apart from our works or merits (Ephesians 2:8-9). God devised a plan of salvation that prevents human boasting, so that God alone will get the glory for saving us. When you trust in Christ's atonement, God puts your sin to Christ's account, and Christ's righteousness to your account.

In light of this truth, I invite you to respond to the gospel. Has the good news about Christ's death for our sins convinced you that you are a sinner? Has it persuaded you that Christ's death paid the debt you owed to God? Do you believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead? If so, express your faith by calling on the Lord to save you (Romans 10:9-10). He will.

The Bible says "...it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27-28). We don't know how long we have to live, before it will be eternally too late to trust Christ. The Bible says those who reject the gospel will suffer everlasting destruction, away from the presence of God (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9).

Do not let your heart grow hard, but hear His voice today. Now is the time for salvation; embrace the grace that God extends to you and step into a life reconciled with Him.
